In the fall, some schoolhouses have messages written in the fence with leaves. 

 

Brick Barn Air Ventilation Holes

Brick designs in barns have always caught my attention.  These holes were designed to allow for some extra ventilation and make beautiful designs as well.  

 

A Dutch Barn Desk

 Another thing I appreciate about Lancaster County is that we have fantastic thrift stores.  One of my favorites is the ReUzit Store in New Holland where I found this barn-themed desk today.  I didn't buy it, but I wish I had space for it.  The shutters really open, and there are little cupboards inside.
